Viessmann FC / FD / FF codes (burner safety lockout) — action guide

The codes FC, FD, and FF all signal that your Viessmann boiler’s burner control has tripped into a safety lockout. These codes require attention — the boiler has intentionally shut down because it detected an abnormal condition.

• Boiler completely stopped, no automatic restart

FC vs FD vs FF — what’s the difference?

FC — Burner control (LMU) fault. Reset is possible. If the fault returns: LMU replacement needed.

FF — Burner-side safety trip — can indicate no flame, unstable flame, or flue gas evacuation problem.

For FD and FF: do not reset. The boiler has moved to irreversible safety — only a professional intervention with proper diagnosis can put it back in service.
